Radiocommunications at Schiphol Airport

banner

  • At Schiphol Airport many and very diverse wireless systems and devices are used for both voice and data communications. All of these systems use radio waves for transmission of calls and data and therefore require reliable radio links.
  • Disruption of radio communications can lead to distortions of (critical) operations at the airport. In that case emergency services and/or aircraft, passenger and baggage services cannot perform properly, or even can cause unsafe situations.
  • Schiphol Group, the airport operator, therefore has assigned Ether Control Schiphol (ECS) to control and monitor all radio traffic and frequencies used at Schiphol Airport. For this reason, permission is required from Ether Control Schiphol to place and/or use any radio transmitter at (any part of) the airport.
